Christmas Eve crash north of Worthington claims life

A tragic crash involving one vehicle north of Worthington on Christmas Eve claimed the life of Thomas D. Gardner.
The accident reportedly happened on State Road 157 in Owen County.
A call about an accident came into the Owen County Sheriff’s Department early Thursday evening.
As of late Thursday, only limited information had been released by Owen County authorities and details remained sketchy.
Around 11:30 p.m., the name of the victim was released but his age and place of residence was not made available.
A report from the Owen County Sheriff’s Department said when the first units arrived on the scene, the driver was found deceased.
According to the report, the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason.
Besides deputies from the Owen County Sheriff’s Department, others who responded to assist on the scene included personnel from the Owen County Ambulance Service, Coal City Fire Department, Worthington Fire Department, Worthington Police Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Department and the Greene County Ambulance Service crew from Jasonville.
The Owen County Sheriff’s Department report states the accident is still under investigation.
